My writing voice and speaking voice are quite different. I’m finding that I want to insert my speaking voice more into my writing, but at the same time I fear it will dumb it down!
I've begun to realize the quiet loss of speaking a language that is alive and kicking, but whose "apex," as you described it, has come and gone. One addresses the present perforce, but with a subtle accent that bespeaks a stranger, one well-acclimated, but to be politely forgiven his contorted usages and foggy comparisons. Like this, I suppose. You always inspire!
